The Canadian pianist Vicky Chow has been referred to as the ‘new star of new music’ (Los Angeles Times) and ‘one of our era’s most brilliant pianists’ (Pitchfork) possessing a brilliant technique and amazing musicality.

The programme of her concert in Cēsis features the Latvian premieres of contemporary piano pieces by some of the best-known and most acclaimed American composers of the younger generation, part of them – written especially for Vicky Chow and featured in her recently released ‘Aorta’ album. We will also hear Steve Reich’s work ‘Piano Counterpoint’; Vicky Chow performed at the American premiere of the piece, and its recording was included into the best album lists by The Rolling Stone Magazine and Rhapsody. Some special accents will be added by several pieces for the piano and electronic instruments.
