The programme features vocal and instrumental music by Latvian composers, with a particular emphasis on pieces written in 2015, which was the Year of Rainis and Aspazija in Latvia: Ingmars Zemzars’ ‘Three Poems by Aspazija for Soprano and Piano’ and the ‘Sensitences’ song cycle to poems by Aspazija by composer Laura Gustovska. The listeners will also be treated to music written by Alfrēds Kalniņš, Jānis Mediņš, Bruno Skulte, Pēteris Vasks and Artūrs Maskats, performed by the outstanding flautist Dita Krenberga, soprano Inga Šļubovska Kancēviča, soloist of the Latvian National Opera, and one of the best-known pianists of the younger generation Agnese Egliņa.
