A
fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, The Nightingale, tells about an
incredibly beautifully singing bird whose voice brought back to life a dying
emperor. This story, a celebration of the healing power of music, true values
and love, serves as a literary framework for the world-famous violinist Gidon
Kremer’s plan to bring music to children, revealing the wonderful world of
sound in a new concert programme dedicated to the young listeners.
In this concert, classical musical pieces are presented through fairy tales, depictions of the animal kingdom and its characteristic sounds in fragments of works by composers Camille Saint-Saëns, Johann Sebastian Bach, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Paul Hindemith.
