Ksenija Sidorova, accordion
Latvian National Symphony Orchestra
Conductor Julien Masmondet
Programme:
Georges Bizet, Albert Roussel,Václav Trojan
The Riga-born
accordionist Ksenija Sidorova has been on road for several years now,
travelling around the world: her studies in London were followed by collaboration
with great orchestras and performances in famous concert halls. Sidorova’s work
has awakened significant interest in the accordion internationally: it would be
safe to say that, in the eyes of the musical circles, the instrument has
experienced a well-deserved renaissance in her hands. Appearing with the LNSO,
Ksenija Sidorova will perform a cinematographic and appealing suite: the Czech
composer Václav Trojan’s ‘Fairytales’.
The place on the podium will be taken by a young, respected and acclaimed
French conductor. The musical pieces in his hands on the night will also
include Bizet’s classically translucent and happy Symphony No. 1 and a
composition that sparkles with Dionysian lust for life – Rousell’s magnificent story
of Ariadne in Naxos, Bacchus and, of course, the Bacchanalia that culminates
with Ariadne getting crowned with a wreath of stars snatched from the sky.
