Inspired by the great
German composer Richard Wagner, to mark the centenary of the Latvian statehood,
a special format of concert productions has been created: the Ring of Latvia,
comprising tributes to the musical and cultural heritage of each of the
regions.
Latgale is the treasury of a unique cultural space. The concert production dedicated to this region is based on the idea of a musical educational presentation focusing on a phenomenon unique to Latgale: the interaction between traditional music and the traditions of the Catholic Church, the merging of the two traditions into a single artistic entity and the fundamental role it plays over the course of a human life. The coming together and being together of priests, representatives of traditional folk music and dance and the Latvian Radio Choir singers, the meeting and melting together of the two musical traditions in a single time and space create a unique and distinctive event ‒ the most beautiful gift to Latvia and Latgale.
