Celebration of the fifth birthday of the Cēssi Concert Hall will be a major cultural event.

On May 31, 2014, the Latvian National Symphony orchestra (LNSO) was honored to perform at the opening concert of the Cēsis Concert Hall, and now the fifth anniversary will be celebrated with two masterpieces of romanticism.

The first part of the concert is one of the most popular piano concerts of all time - Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No 1 performed by Latvian pianist Reinis Zarins.

In the second part of the concert, we will listen to the first act of Richard Wagner's opera “Valkir”. "Valkir" is the second of Wagner's grand cycle "Nibelung's Ring". The Sieglinde will be sung by well-known Swedish soloist Liine Carlsson (performed at the Latvian National Opera as Senta and Elizabeth), Siegmund will be a great Swedish tenor Michael Weinius, who sang this role in the Latvian National Opera production, while an outstanding Finnish bass Timo Riihonen will be Hunding. All three soloists are demanded on the world's largest stages, and brilliant interpreters of Wagner.

At the conductor's desk we will see Andris Poga  - musical director and the pricipal conductor of the Latvian National Symphony. He rarely addresses the opera, but when he does, the result is fascinating.
