Silvia Ilves /cello, Estonia/,
Kseniya Kuchukova /soprano, Estonia/,
Māra Botmane /cello/
Two Estonian artists – the cellist Silvia Ilves and singer Kseniya Kuchukova – joined by the Latvian cello player Māra Botmane is bringing to Cēsis a programme especially mounted for the Cello Cēsis Festival. Musically, it is centred around the contemporary Italian composer Alessandro Viale’s ‘Songs of the Spring’, a cycle for cello and voice. The poetry of Alessandro Viale’s contemporary airy and delicate music permeates this compositional cycle that involves a human – cello dialogue. There is no need for a translation of the lyrics; this conversation will be understood by anyone representing any culture anywhere in the world. The Latvian and Estonian musicians, performing together with great pleasure, will complement the programme with pieces for cello solo and cello duet by Latvian and Estonian composers.
