Cēsis Concert Hall JAZZ LOUNGE series hosts a concert by pianist and composer Jef Neve, one of the best-known names on the Belgian jazz scene, and an ensemble of outstanding wind instrumentalists.
The programme in Cēsis features compositions from Neve’s latest album ‘Mysterium’, inspired by the powerful sound of three saxophones ‒ sometimes aggressive, sometimes melodious, lending itself both to improvisation and strict adherence to the classical tradition. The sound of the ensemble is enhanced with the addition of a trumpet and a trombone ‒ two instruments representing radically different parts of the brass sound range.
The musical backbone of the compositions in the setlist is provided by the piano played by Jef Neve and the double bass.
