A trio of three internationally acclaimed Latvian musicians ‒ Rihards Zaļupe (percussion), Raimonds Petrauskis (keyboards) un Oskars Petrauskis (saxophone) ‒ present a concert programme based on music for films and stage by the world-famous Georgian composer Giya Kancheli. The programme will be made even more special by an appearance by the Georgian diva Nato Metonidze, who, with her voice, is able to reveal the depth of the sorrow and power of the Georgian people.
Kancheli is the author of incidental music and soundtracks for some fifty stage productions and sixty films, the likes of ‘Mimino’ and ‘Kin-dza-dza’. The programme is centred around musical themes for these films and other stage and screen works.
‘No-one has ever played my music like the Xylem Trio do. It is outstanding,’ says Giya Kancheli.
