This is a unique
opportunity to hear the brilliant Latvian cellists Kristīne Blaumane and Marta
Sudraba, both rare guests in the concert halls of this country, on the same
stage, playing together. A prize winner of many prestigious contests and
recipient of a number of awards, Kristīne Blaumane is the principal cello at
the London Philharmonic
Orchestra since 2007. She has performed with some of the greatest contemporary
musicians, the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, Mischa Maisky, Gidon Kremer and Tatiana
Grindenko. In Johannes Brahms’ Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra,
Blaumane’s stage partner will be the Moscow-born violinist Boris Brovtsyn.
A graduate from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, Marta Sudraba
furthered her education at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama, City
of Basel Music Academy and ViennaUniversity of Music and Performing Arts. She has performed with orchestras
like the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin,
Sinfonieorchester Basel and La Scala Theatre Orchestra. Marta Sudraba lives in
Vienna and is currently a member of the Wiener Philharmoniker.
