The ballet performance by the Vanemuine Theatre is going to be the first time at the Cēsis Concert Hall for the Estonian company. The programme features two very different styles of dance. In the first part of the concert, the artists will present a short-form tap-dance production entitled Step into the Light, conjuring up a sparkly and cheerful mood. In the second part, we will enjoy some of the most beautiful solos and duets from classic ballets.
Step into the Light
"Step Into the Light won’t leave you contemplating your life, it doesn’t have any underlying meaning to it, or abstract movement so don’t try to look for it. It’s a way of dance which in my opinion has been somewhat lost today. Fred Astaire just sang and danced, and the audience just enjoyed the emotion, style and talent which he gave. He entertained and that was all that was needed. So if you like live music, upbeat vibes or maybe you have never seen tap dancing before then sit back, relax, and let’s keep things simple," director-choreographer Matthew Jordan.
Live music composers and musicians: Benjamin Kyprianos, Lawrence Massie
Dancers: Georgia Toni Giboin, Raminta Rudžionyte, Lawrence Massie, Laura Quin, Benjamin Kyprianos, Gus Upchucrh, Gerardo Avelar, Matthew Jordan
Ballet Gala
The secon part of the concert is created on the base of Don Quixote already and makes a beautiful ensemble.
