The programme focuses on
Leonard Bernstein ‒ the American composer, conductor and pianist. We are going
to witness the many facets of Bernstein’s music, from the amusing and vocally-challenging
song cycles for children
I Hate Music and La Bonne Cuisine, fragments from the Mass, the ironic duets and solos from the Candide operetta, to cycles of miniatures for piano. And, of course, the programme would not be complete without some melodies from the West Side Story and Wonderful Town musicals. The music of Leonard Bernstein is so illustrative that the pianist Raimonds Petrauskis is going to experiment both with classic piano sound and synthesizer samples but the singers, guided by director Kārlis Krūmiņš, will have to take on the roles of actors and narrators as well.
